SuSE 8.2 - user management tool

I have problem with SuSE 8.2 - YaST2 about user administration. Everthing is functioning fine with user
administration, but there is no search option in it. I have bigger number of users, and without searh it is very
difficult to administrate them. SuSe 8.2 is installed in the command prompt mode, so I can't use GUI tools...

Is there any other tool for user administration - please help !!!

I think you are asking for a CLI tool?

dont know of one but if you check /etc/passwd it will list all the users
check /etc/group for a list of groups.

useradd and userdel to add/delete users

usermod can be used changing users attributes

read the man page on them for further explanations

there is also groupadd, groupdel and groupmod
Its better to regret something you have done than to regret something you havent done :P

    Re:SuSE 8.2 - user management tool

Thank you for that friskydrifter, but it doesn't solve the problem.
I can do everthing from command line using that but I need software which can do such simple work.
I also know that YAST (previous of YAST2) did that at proper way which
works with little older version of SuSE(7.0). Does anybody know can it
    work with 8.2

    Re:SuSE 8.2 - user management tool

Since you don't seem to have a GUI or either don't use a GUI, then that would take YaST2 out of the picture, in which case you'd have to work with YaST, and from what you're telling me, this is the program you were using that worked correct? So why not use YaST?

Here's a quote from Linux Journal.
"Generally speaking, you'll want to use YaST2 when at all possible; YaST2 is the graphical version, and the older YaST is a great fallback if you aren't able to get into the GUI or have not installed a GUI."
