    SCO Garbage

    Here is an interesting article...

    http://pcworld.shopping.yahoo.com/ya...,112971,00.asp

This is ridiculous... From what I know of SCO, it seems they were on the way out of business. So,what I think is happening is that the hope these fees will keep them in business. My gut feeling is that, since MS sees Linux as a threat, he paid SCO to file this suit to damage Linux credibility. If they could win and force these outrageous liscensing fees (before Oct 31, $699 per processor; since Oct 31, $1399 per processor), then he would not have to worry about Linux being a threat.
Who the hell thought of these fees? Pay more for a snippet of code than you did for the whole system? Noone in their right mind would do that. This was thought up by someone that just wants Linux out of the picture. Good thing SCO has yet to even prove a bit of it...
Is there truth to what I heard about SCO dropping the suit, then Red Hat turning around, countersuing, and basically saying "Screw You, we want to see that so-called proof you have"?

Here is an article I saw at some site... further fuel that makes me wonder if MS is actually just trying to snuff a competitor...

    Re:SCO Garbage

I don't know if Microsorry had their hands in this to begin with, but I think how it all started was SCO was going bankrupt, and they need someone to buy them out. They pitched the idea to IBM with a threat of we'll sue you for putting our code into Linux in the hopes that IBM would just buy them out. Of course we all know what happened here. IBM didn't.

Ok, so now SCO is still lacking money, and has to come up with a new plan of action. They begin to harass the companies using Linux with accusations instead of proven facts, and demand licenses. Some companies paid out from what we've been told. So now they have a little money to continue their battle of FUD.

Moving right along, Microsorry has finally realized that this is becoming a big issue, and is actually discouraging some people from using Linux. Now they want a piece of the pie. Ok SCO is completely funded to run it's FUD campaign.

It's the "End of the world as we know it."

    Re:SCO Garbage

SCO and IBM have each filed several motions to try to compel the other side to release information. In a motion Wednesday, IBM criticized SCO for delivering source code to IBM that had been printed on 1 million sheets of paper.

"Knowing full well that IBM would need its source code in electronic form so that proper analyses--such as those SCO itself claims to have performed--could be conducted, SCO instead produced the source code on one million sheets of paper," IBM said in the motion. "The only reason for SCO's production of code on paper was, we believe, to stall the progress of these proceedings while giving the (false) impression of being forthcoming in its discovery responses."

IBM asks for the code in question, and SCO gives it to them on a million sheets of paper, dicks...
