    Re:Red Hat to discontinue support...

    but...
They still have masses of community momentium behind fedora
and you can use up2date for free now.
The fedora project will progress alot quicker than RHL used to, and you will get programs updated more often.
It actually looks pretty exciting :-D

I think this is completely ridiculous. Linux is not ready for this in my opinion. To charge the same prise for the Enterprise WS as Microshaft charges for windows. I see this as a bad omen for RedHat

Several /.ers mentioned that they thought this was a bad idea because RH Enterprise is largely fueled by... RH home users. One person mentioned that "his company decided to make the switch to linux, and asked his opinion... being a RH user he suggested RH Enterprise"... if they get rid of the RH home base, they'll possibly lose out on some of their Enterprise customer pool.

    so... use Fedora
a community effort (almost) which has *funding* by a big name linhux vendor.
Fedora is great, ive been using it for weeks now and its pretty cool. alot easier to keep up to date now

personally i would rather stick with slackware or gentoo, but yeah, fedora sounds alright to me, i might just have to get some cd's for it to have around incase anyone redhattish wants to use them.
