you know how msn pops up stupid message things and they are useless because you alread have the window open and it just annoys you, well it would actually be cool if GLO had a java program that you installed and logged in with that told you when you had responses to your posts. this would be better than checking GLO every hour or so. like you give the program your username and password and it talks with the server and when the server is changed it tells you. i would totally love that.

Well you can use the e-mail system to have it alert you when you have a post to your message.

That's what I do, and it's very effective, I only actually check GLO about 1-2 times a day, and sometimes only once every other day.

If I get an e-mail though, I'll stop on buy to answer all the posts. If possible that is.

yeah there is that, but i think a program to check if any of the posts that have been started by you have been posted is better, simply because i check glo far more than i check my email because i never get new email and its easier to just goto the source of where i would be getting the email, and it would be easeir to not have to goto the site unless i have a message in a post that i need help than to check it a bunch, i would still go 1-2 times a day to check and see if i could help someone, but i think the basic program would be fairly simple to do, i just dont know how to do it, just have it check to see if any of your posts have been changed since you last checked, or even if the program just checked the things in GLO Discussion to see if anything new at all was added. would just save time going to the site every hour or so to check if someone replied to a post you made.

That's what I'm saying. If you make it so GLO sends you a mail when someone responds to your post, then you'll get an e-mail.

You'll just have to learn how to check your e-mail more often. However Aragorn would be the one to talk to about your idea. He's the owner of this site, and can code too.

i never GET email, why would i check my mail often. that only changes the site i have to check, my point is it would be nice not to have to check a site, just to look at a program and see oh someone posted to my thread, maybe i have an answer to my question, then checking a site.

Actually, this kind of idea would best be pulled off by the user. If one were so motivated, one could write a script that would get executed on an interval, which would compare all the topics on the first page of every forum, and then echo the results onto a log. If you wanted it to pop up on your screen, you could have the kalarm deamon execute a shell with the results of the log shown in it.

btw, i would be extremely suprised if there isn't something like this already. i will have to look around.

cool babbing, i am not the one that is inclined to do it since i dont know how , if you find something i would appreciate it cuz i want to be able to check if stuff is new without having to actually check lol.
