Different strokes for different fokes, I couldn't help myself.

Check out that GNOME 2.4 Release, and tell me if that keyboard thing is like what you're needing. It's on the main page atm.

    Re:keystrokes

i would check it out but i dont use gnome lol, i remember i used to have a program that told me what keystroke i hit when i hit it, like it would tell me the ansi for it or something like that, and that would be cool to find out and implement something.

To change which window manager (or desktop manager for that matter) you are using, use the "xwmconfig" utility.

It should be located in /usr/X11R6/bin

Just run it and pick the one you want to be your default, then run startx again

    Re:keystrokes

gaxprels, no offence, but i used to know how to do it manually, which is edit a file and it would do it, i find that faster and easier.

    Re:keystrokes

nope... not faster or easier, but definitely the guru way

the file you want i used to know as well... but since there's this nice little utility, i figured "why bother" and haven't touched it in forever and had forgotten which file it was, but I looked it up.

Put it in your ~/.xinitrc file and it should load when you do startx

Also... xwmconfig is one way... there's another program some people use called switchdesk but I haven't used it so far as I can remember.

Ok, this is how a real guru does it ;D

For Slackware, have the symlink xinitrc located in the /etc/X11/xinit/ dir pointing to the real xinitrc.gnome or xinitrc.kde etc... also located in that directory.

    Re:keystrokes

THANKYOU SKYNET, i just needed to know where the stupid gui loader files were, i knew to put .xinitrc into my user dir, and gaxprels, i must again say, editing it text is faster and easier, nothing easier than editing out a hash and adding one for the gui that i was using.

and thanks for the link babbing
