I'm a slackware fan, but after reading the Gentoo website, I want to really try it out, because if everything is compiled for that specific system, then it should be that much faster.
well i guess the subject says all. post if you love slackware![]()

I've never tryed anything else, having moved from window's 98 straight to slackware 8.1, i was blown away by bash, bash programming, and it''s openess. Being able to see the startup script's and modify them to my need's easy, being able to configure a custom keymap, iptable's (my firewall is 7 line's, for some resason seem's easier than tiny personal firewall GUI)
For yet another unexplained reason, i actually like having become root to mount my cdrw drive and floppy. To some it up my whole computer journey is to get away from abstraction's, slackware has proved to be just what i'm looking for...not discounting other distro's...yet.
i find that the more i try other distro's the more i love slackware because it has just what i want, fast and sexy and always works for what i want it to, unless i screw up![]()

I use any distro that works for what I'm doing. Slackware tends to be my favorite for most things though... It's small, less cluttered, and I like the BSD style init scripts.
Slackware is the best -- you can get most distros cheap at http://www.loadux.com/index.html on cd.
or you could just download and burn ISO's, No way i would have been able to pay for other people to do that with the amount of linux distro's I have.
