SMS messaging

I'm looking for a solution model for running SMS messaging on OpenSource ( if possible ).

What I need is a backbone server software plus OS in either pay model or GPL. I can't seems to find any info on backbone except some solution on gateway to SMS services. Any clues you guys can feed would be highly appreciated ( since I know some of you are working in wireless companies ).

Do you have any insight on What software do they run or one what OS?

I'm guessing it's highly proprietary since I hardly find any mentioning of it ( when it comes to backbone servers ).

All I know is most of our stuff is made by ericson(Our switches, ivr, and some other stuff).

Hey Compunuts,

I found this and I think this can be quite usefull. You can probably build your own SMS server with this I think. I just skimmed through it.
