Yeah, I could download the Kernel, but the problem is that I need the eth0 to be working in the first place for me to use the internet. I have 1.5mb ADSL, but it is through a USB connection (cheap modem that came with the package). I am currently in the process of trying to get that to work, and when I do, I will install the 2.6.11 kernel. However, I found that Kanotix displays the same problem with the networking, which is weird, cause when I ran it off the cd, it worked just fine, and even shared my internet connection with the windows xp machine in the house with no configurations necessary.

I have reinstalled the new Kubuntu Hoary, and the network seems to be functioning alright, although I admit it is using a static I.P. What I did to get the network working was simple, I just booted the Kubuntu cd, and instead of using the standard settings of the install, i typed:

linux netcfg_dhcp=false (or something like that, you can see these options by press the F1 - F8 keys at boot time. But the network works, and I am using the net at uni now through my laptop.

I don't know how many people have walked by my laptop, and then stopped, and said how cool my windows looks. I then slap them, and tell them that it is KDE 3.4 on Linux. Nah, but they seemed surprised that it is LInux. I think it is because my Uni is filled with people that don't care.

A Linux Laptop in the coffee shop is sure to get some comments.

Do lots of students at your Uni use Linux?

No, i think that I have seen one other person use Linux. Everyone just seems to be those rich kids that get a laptop, use whatever comes on it (Win XP), and that's all they care about. Stupid bastards, if only they new what they are missing out on!
