FTP server distro

Hello,

At our work we want to setup a FTP server. Linux is our choice but which distro should we download? The FTP service is the only thing that's needed on that server. So we can set restrictions thru FTP on each user.

Can anybody help me out?

If you want to spend less time setting up the distro, and more time working on the FTP, then go with Redhat, Mandrake, or SuSe. If you wish to spend more time on the distro, but perhaps better return in performance then go with Slackware, Vector, Debian, and babbing's personal favorite Gentoo.

No mention of Gentoo??! I'd like to think of it as the middle ground of all of those. Performance of any of the latter distros with the ease of the previous distros.

most popular distro's have a ftp servers already running, you just have to tweak the conf file a little, if you only want a simple ftp server and no gui to set it up, go slackware and you wont be sorry, all you have to do is configure the /etc/proftpd.conf file and its done.
