Hey guys . i am still waiting for replies ... i wonder whats keeping u all busy at the same time![]()
Hi guys.
It was amazaing. atleast i saw it happen the first time. I recently installed Win2000 Server on my machine. Earlier i was running WinXP with Redhat 8.0 and had to install WIN2k Server. i did so but i can still boot linux the same way as i used. and moreover even converted my C: drive to NTFS. i wonder why wasn't my MBR overwritten??
I think the credit goes to Grub ! 8)

What really sucks is when xp blows you mbr away, then grub doesn't work right... and you don't have a boot floppy because you were not allowed to make one due to your kernel being too large to fit on floppy. Talk about panic... until you learn "fdisk\mbr" anyway...

Hey Babbing hanen't you heard the word **NEED**...
In our part of this world, lets say " its windows world"
only reason i have windows is because i like Lan Parties. vwgtiturbo, its not too difficult to reinstate your bootloader back in, or at least with lilo it is reletively simple.

it has only been a pain to get to linux for me, when the bootloader is inop. after i miraculously get to it, it is simple to reinstall, either 'sbin/lilo' or 'grub-install /dev/hda'. getting to it without the loader or floppy has been the biggest pain for me, depending on the distro, cuz some tell me i can't make a floppy because my kernel requires modules that make the image too large for a floppy. maybe i should compile my own, and trim the fat...
