if its a pc card cd drive, you will need to make a disk image which is in the images/ folder on cd 1, use the pcmcia.img file
Yep, I'm trying to install Linux wherever I can. At least I can actually get it onto the Compaq machine ;D
I've got a Sony Vaio PCG-Z600TEK machine. This is one of those with the external cardbus-attached CDROM drives. I boot with Redhat disk 1, and choose to install. The installer goes into the blue screen and loads a couple of drivers, and then just hangs there.
Is there any way I can debug what's going on? It doesn't appear to make any difference whether I choose graphical or text installer.
Thanks for any suggestions ....... Pete

CD1 for RH9 only has an image called pcmciadd.img. Using rawrite to create a boot disk from this gives an "Operating System not found error" when trying to boot from it.
Pete
Looking closer at the Redhat ftp site shows that RH8 had both pcmcia.img and pcmciadd.img. I think the second needs the first.
Have RH forgotton to add this for RH 9?
I think I might try the RH 8 one and see what happens ......
Pete
taking a look at the images/README file in 9, it looks like you need bootdisk.img and pcmciadd.img

Um, next silly question is; "Why didn't I think of that?"
I created the two disks from bootdisk.img and pcmciadd.img, booted from the bootdisk and kicked off the installer using "linux ide2=0x180,0x386" and things are going better this time.
Thanks for the help
Pete
