Sounds like Mandrivel  . So what happened? Some mean 'ol American magic-related company try to sue them over the name, or what? :cow:
In a recent announcement the company formerly known as Mandrakesoft announced that it has changed its company name to 'Mandriva', to better reflect its merger with Connectiva and to finally put a stop to the seemingly endless trademark lawsuit with Hearst.
So sound off on what you think of the new name in the poll.

I guess back when Mandrake was just getting going they used a magicians hat for their logo. Well this company Hearst makes a comic called Mandrake the Magician. They claimed it was a violation of their logo and did what every good American business does, it sued.Originally Posted by snct";p="7352

I haven't used Mandrake in a while. I was reading in some trade mags that their corporate desktop is really coming along, and was thinking about trying it out soon.
They should tell the comic book company to get bent. The new name blows, and mandrake root and all other references to the mandrake and "drakes" are ancient. That's like trying to trademark the word "terra" and a logo of the earth.
