whatdoyougetwhenyoumultiplysixbynine??
heh, why read it when you can grep it?? :-D
this thread is pretty old but i have a related question.
I use an Eelsa Erazor III which uses an Nvidia chip of some kind and has only about 32 megs of video ram. In windows i actually always used Nvidia drivers and ran Half Life, Starcraft, and Age of Empires with no problems. Anyway, everything looks fine on my fedora core two system untill i try to run the Matrix screen saver, Tux Racer, or Chromium. It just can't haldle movies of any kind. also i tried looking for my XF86 file to see if i could fix it by adding the "1" like aragorn did a few responses back but its not there; i found a README that says:
# IMPORTANT NOTICE about XftConfig:
#
# As of Red Hat Linux 8.0, the XftConfig config file has been deprecated and
# obsoleted by /etc/fonts/fonts.conf, which is the new font configuration file
# for both Xft1 and Xft2, which is provided by the "fontconfig" package.
# For information on configuring fonts using fontconfig, please
# consult the fontconfig documentation.
MY question is:A) why do Tux and screensaver suck; is it acceleratoin related?
B) is XF86CInfig related to Xftconfig?
C) is there something i need to do to my frontconfig file?
thanks.
You need to install the Nvidia Linux Binary drivers. They work as well as the Windows drivers.

SkyNet,
Even with a card that old?
agamemnon,
Don't worry about the XftConfig, look to the XF86Config. You do not need to do anything to your XftConfig, all it does is tell your system where your fonts are.
Yes, even with a card that old. They are still working quite well with my Nvidia GeForce 2 MX-400 64MB card, although I'm sure they would perform just as well on a 32MB card considering.
If anything it would be far better then sticking with the OS drivers.
