Hi All
I'm new to this forum. I'm new to Gentoo Linux as well, but i've some issues on GUI. I've succussfully installed Gentoo LInux2007 on an Intell processor3.6ghz with ATI Radeon RV100 QY [Radeon7000/VE] vga card, RAM 8gb. but on booting th, memory shows only 256mb. Apart from this GUI is not working. I get CLI. I did not find x11 folder in /etc, which is required for graphics. I've the same issue with nvidia NV41GL[Quadro Fx1400]. Please help me resolve.

I think that post deserves to be in it's own topic. During the gentoo process, you wouldn't have installed X because that is not part of the default setup. To get X I'd say do:
emerge kde
or
emerge gnome
That way you'll get X along with a window manager.
Then run
xorgconfig
to setup your X windows system.
When compiling your kernel, there is an option for the amount of memory and support for high memory systems (Do you have a 32-bit or 64-bit processor/OS? The most a 32bit CPU can address natively is 4GB).
To access this setting from menuconfig follow this:
Processor Type and Features ---> High Memory Support
Choose 64GB

If any of that seemed way too confusing, you may not be ready for gentoo yet. I'd recommend slackware (http://www.slackware.org), you'll get a working system much faster out of the box (with X) than with gentoo, where you may have to spend some time configuring everything.
