dialup w/ pcmcia 56k + Lan Card

Ok i have one of those Lan + 56k cards from linksys and it works great. but i want to use 56k on it. But i have a few questions. first of all.. i know (i think) when im ready to set up my dial-up stuff i type 'pppsetup' as root. ok this works. i put in my phone # and stuff. now when it comes asking which device is my modem i get confused. thats problem #1.. next it asks me all these in depth questions about my ISP. like is it PAP or CHAP or something? i dont know this, i mean i guess i could email them.. but for most people what is the default. and then assuming that you guys help me set this up (which im confident you will cause u know everything) .. how would i dial-in and start my 56k connection? heh. another note.. im on slackware 8.1 on a laptop running blackbox. very slow computer.. just need dial-up. LAN works great, so 56k should have no problems. if you have AIM.. you could IM @ thatboysabin if you want. i might be away but leave a message.. ill reply. anyways.. i didnt know what section to put this in.. so here it is. whether your ISP wants to use PAP or chap i don't know, that'll be you job to find out.

i believe the reason that the lan is working so well and not the 56K is that eth0 may be initialized on boot, where your PPP is not. i forget the exact command to bring it up, but it is something like /services/ppp up, but i will look further into that. (i am not on my home pc at the moment)
