what distro is it?
if its redhat, mandrake or suse you can reinstall the mount rpm.
rpm -ivh --force <filename>
it should be on cd 1
hello everyone,
my system has a missing umount executable. hence it can't unmount drives when linux shuts down. how can i reinstall that file without reinstalling everything else.

i think your lookinf for the util-linux package, try: http://www.redhat.com/swr/i386/mount-2.11r-10.i386.html
its probally newer any ways..........
