    go for the latest and greatest. i believe it is up 2.4.20. maybe someone else knows in greater detail. i'll check into kernel.org in a bit 8)

    2.4.20 is probably your best choice. run with that :P. god knows as soon as you get that compiled and installed, the next one will be released

    my recommendation, is what i noticed the slackware guys do, make your kernel /boot/vmlinuz-<kernel version> and your System.map System.map-<kernel version> and your config /boot/config-<kernel version> and then you just use softlinks, works quite well if you have a few kernels.
