Web Cam
I have a Compaq :-X USB web cam. I plugged it in, but it isnt recognized. Any ideas of what I would need to do to get it working? I downloaded Gnome Meeting to see if it would work, but I have about 25 dependencies I need to resolve :-\
Thanks.

Re:Web Cam
What is shown in /var/log/messages when you plug the drive in? Is it recognized at all?

Re:Web Cam
This is what appears when I plug the camera in:
Dec 16 19:24:03 linux kernel: hub.c: USB new device connect on bus2/1/1, assigned device number 8
Dec 16 19:24:07 linux kernel: usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout
Dec 16 19:24:07 linux kernel: keyboard.c: can't emulate rawmode for keycode 272
Thanks.

Re:Web Cam
That doesn't look good. :'(
What is the USB ID shown in /var/log/messages. Looks like it might not be supported.

Re:Web Cam
Well, I am not sure where to find that, besides what I already pasted in. I didnt think it would be supported. :-\

Re:Web Cam
Everytime you plug in a USB device you will see a line like this in /var/log/messages. It shows the USB id.
kernel: usb.c: USB device 3 (vend/prod 0x3f0/0x805)

Re:Web Cam
I tried it again:
Dec 16 21:26:44 linux kernel: hub.c: USB new device connect on bus2/1/3, assigned device number 12
Dec 16 21:26:47 linux kernel: keyboard.c: can't emulate rawmode for keycode 272
Dec 16 21:26:47 linux kernel: keyboard.c: can't emulate rawmode for keycode 272
Dec 16 21:26:48 linux kernel: usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout
Dec 16 21:26:50 linux kernel: keyboard.c: can't emulate rawmode for keycode 272
Dec 16 21:26:50 linux kernel: keyboard.c: can't emulate rawmode for keycode 272
Dec 16 21:26:52 linux kernel: usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout
Dec 16 21:26:52 linux kernel: keyboard.c: can't emulate rawmode for keycode 272
Dont see the message you are looking for.... ??? :-[ :'( :-\ :-X

Re:Web Cam
Hmm, doesn't even display the USB ID. :P :'(

Re:Web Cam
This is a camera that only ever worked on a Compaq machine, which had the drivers. I could never get it to work on another Windoze machine.
