No, seriously Fatal, which distro do you like the best. :-P
Alright Everyone, I have found something much better then Kubuntu, it's called SimplyMepis 3.3. Because I am now a member of the broadband community (a phat 1.5mb connection), I have been downloading a lot of Distros. I came across SimplyMepis, and I thought it was great.
Here is a review I wrote, it is an early review, but I hope to get more into it soon, including some pictures.

Anyway, this distro has it all, except AmaroK 1.2 and KDE 3.4, but that will be coming in the next release. Oh, and you can choose from a 2.4 or a 2.6.10 series kernel at bootup.

UBUNTU #1
First time in my life I picked a winner, well maybe the second.
Its popularity won't last.

normally.... i'd agree, but i'm starting to think differently about ubuntu, they have managed to take all the great things about debian, and create a well integrated system that is just "sleeker" then debian, the gnome customizations are all practical and have a good use. Gnome as the main wm was a good choice IMHO for a distro such as ubuntu because it has a good "backend" (CORBA) for writing modules.Originally Posted by comtux";p="7299
And best of all, it's nice for old-time users like myself as well, I'm perfectly at home in ubuntu (because it's... debian), but so are/couldbe many non-linux users.
Im not a big fan of debian as you all already know i eather use slack or my own custom distro.
But if ubuntu make peoples lifes easyer than by all means it is a good thing i use to be a long time debian user .
But an even longer slackware user so i promote slack.
All linux distros are for the most part the same it all comes down to how much care that the distro buildrs have taken to build something great.
Now i haven't used ubuntu before.
But i think i will download it and see for my self if they use gnome and it is that popular then they have done alot of customization because building gnome from scratch and haveing everything work right in my exsperance is no easy task

Its popularity will probably hold out as long as Mark Shuttleworths' money holds out. Which will probably be a very, very long time.Originally Posted by comtux";p="7299

jro, Lets be careful here, both maccorin AND comtux have said something less than negative about Ubuntu. That means that its the greatest thing EVER or mac and com are getting mellow!
I think the business model that Shuttleworth and the Ubuntu crowd have setup is going to go a long way to
keeping it popular.
Also there is the "totally useless user" factor that has been delt with here. If Fatal Error, the resident TUU, can install and use and EVEN maintain my Ubuntu system, well then, its the shites ya know!
