sounds like theres a problem with your XF86config file.
if you use lilo, you can type linux 3 at the boot to go into text mode and edit the config file

Hi, I have installed the Nvidia drivers for My Geforce II GTS several times now. I can install it fine, I have done it from an rpm and a source package, but each time I get the same problem... When I reboot, it loads linux allright, then it almost gets to the kde login screen then it starts blinking nonstop. I can not log-in or anything. Does any one know how to fix this? So far, the only thing I could do is reinstall linux and start over again.... Also, is there a way I could at least get into the command line prompt so I could get to my etc/X11/XF86Config and set it back to the generic drivers? I am new to linux and any help would be nice. -Thanks
