I have not myself, but i don't see why not. Have you tried? If so, what errors have you gotten? What distro are you using?
Has anyone tried to set up a connection using a USR ADSL Modem? Can it be possible?

First of all... sorry 'bout the duplicated thread![]()
No, ihadnt tried to set it up... well, i'm kind of new at linux and i don't know how to set it up. I had a look around Mandrake site (my distribution is Mandrake 9), and i think there is no compatibilty (more or lees) between linux and usb modems... Well you see, i'm new at it and i don't know if it is possible to set it up...
usb support is shoddy in linux to say the least.
take a look at this
http://www.usr.com/support/9000/9000...e%20modem.html
i must say, kudos to USR for actually having instructions... ;D ;D ;D
whatdoyougetwhenyoumultiplysixbynine??
But i don't have a SureConnect modem !!!! well, anyway, i'll try to configure my modem following that steps...
Thanks a lot
hi I have been investigating USB adsl modems and the bottom line is linux does not support USB adsl modems generally, apart from the USB alcatel speedtouch which has been dispatched by most xdsl ISP's in England. there is, however an internal modem which is supported made by a company called alcatel. I think the best way to go is an adsl router which is not very expensive especially the dlink one which also comes with a 4 port switch. or you need to do is to configure linux to work with dhcp and the router automatically does the rest. The only warning is if you are running windows any flavour online games and some multimedia functions will not run with the router configured simply.
