I just installed 8.2 on an old machine I had laying around...a HP vectra XU...and so it installed all nice and good but I boot it up it does its tests and goes to a black screen nothing happenin but blackness...I chose Gnome as my windows thing

What video card do you have?

Yes matter of fact it is...Nvidia...4.2.0 gf2 mx

Ah, so you have a Nvidia chip?
Download the Drivers from www.nvidia.com and install them
