Installing Suse Linux 8.0 Pro

Hey guys I'm a newbie trying to install suse linux 8.0 pro onto my 8 gig hdd.I was using my 8 gig hdd as my slave drive in windows xp pro.Before I tried installing suse I booted into safe mode and formated my 8 gig hdd with fat32.So I shut down my pc and disconnected my primary hdd and changed the jumper settings on my 8 gig and set it to master.So I inserted the DVD disk of suse 8.0 and went into the setup after it went through and set my time and date and set up partions I started getting this error: error while initialize package descriptions check the log file /var/log/y2log
So anyone please respomd please and let me know what to do.

This may not be the problem but , you said you set the jumpers to master, did you set your other drive to slave ?

Why not leave the 8 gig drive as slave with your xp pro drive as master, Linux can be installed on a slave drive , lilo the boot loader will sort the rest out for you and leave you with dual boot.

As for the error message , hell i dont know
