    Mac OS X

I've heard a lot about Mac OS X lately, but I thought about something. Since OS X is based on FreeBSD, wouldn't Macintosh be doing a really smart move by porting their desktop environment and such to Intel hardware and sell it as an alternative to Windows XP on PCs? I know it's not likely based on their past history, but....I'd use it if it worked, especially since Microsoft office is supported on it now.

mmmmmmmmm, mac os X, now thats a nice implementation of unix

i think the story behind macs is they are fast and slick because theres on't one possible combination of hardware. the probs with i386 pcs is theres an infinite number of hardware combinations possible, which basicly mac os hasn't been written to handle.

also, i think mac released a copy of macos for intel one time, but it never took off so they gave up,.

    hmm, more ideads....
i think officeX or office:mac 2001 are specifically written for the mac architechutere, so it would still need to be rewritten to run on a pc, which i doubt ms would want to do.....
