is this a proper fm radio station? or a web stream?
xmms can do shoutcast (shoutcast.com)
but to listen to fm radio you need a reciever, i have seen ones that plug into the usb port, im not sure about drivers for them tho

Just wondered of any one new of a similar program to media player that allows you to listen to your favorite radio station online.

Hi M8
All I want to do is listen to music without having to plug in any hardware. Windows media player does this, Realplayer, Netscape radio (this one restricted).
ok, it looks like shoutcast is what you want.
if you don't already have it, get xmms from xmms.org

Hi doggiebone,
I'm also a Linux newbie running RedHat 8.0.
I ran into the same problem as you did with Netscape Radio. I could not see how to get XMMS to handle the java call of Netscape's Radio, as suggested:
javascript:launchRadioNetscape('3821','MU-RADIO-SMPLR-3821');
I downloaded Sun Microsystem's java, but it still doesn't get me past the dialogue box asking whether I hear audio (I don't), and its frustrating that I already have the plug-in installed (Real Player 8.0).
Real Player 8.0 works fine as a plug in for streaming ra files, etc, but it just doesn't seem to work with Netscape's java call.
What solution have you found?
