    What will work to view avi files? Xmovie, aktion, etc dont work for me

    i use xine (xine.sf.net)

    I've had no trouble with .avi's on xine either.

    the xine website has good docs on setting it up, also misc newsgroups (use groups.google.com)

    most players will play avi files. a few good ones are, Xine, which has a nice gui and is pretty consistant, Mplayer, which will play anything you can think of, and aviplay. i am not sure what aviplay does, but maybe you could experiment with it ;D
