    KPPP

    KPPP connect OK but ...
I can not browse any page when I use KPPP. (Even if I retype an IP address)
I alway get an error: "...page not found. Please type the name and try again"

With wvdial is OK every thing is OK
What problem with KPPP and how do I resolve this ?

    Thanks

    Re:KPPP

Sounds like the DNS server entries are not be added to /etc/resolv.conf after you connect.

Been forever since I used kppp. Check the docs and see if there is an option to enable "PEERDNS". kppp might refer to it as something else.

What Linux disto/version are you using?

I don't know if kppp in Red Hat uses the configure files that the Red Hat dialer uses. In your case that would be /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-ppp0.

There will be an option in there PEERDNS=yes
This auotmatically writes the dns servers to /etc/resolv.conf when you connect.

More then likely kppp is not using this file and stores it config somewhere else.

    Re:KPPP

    I am using Redhat 7.3

    I add a line PEERDNS=1
in the file /root/.kde/share/config/kppprc (the config file of KPPP)
    but this problem still...

I give up, can not understand.

    Thanks for your help.

    Re:KPPP

I don't know if that is the right file or the right way to add the PEERDNS option to kppp's config.

I will see if I can't look at the docs for kppp.

I think Bogler is using kppp on 7.3 he might know where the config file is. I have not seen him on the board in a few days.
