From: Bill Nottingham <notting@redhat.com>
Subject: Announcing a beta release of Red Hat Linux: Limbo
Date: 03 Jul 2002 14:08:44 -0400
A formless gray void shifts around you. You feel neither pleasure
nor pain; mainly a sense of waiting. Other souls similarly confused
shuffle aimlessly about. What do you do now? Where do you go from here?
Welcome to LIMBO, a new beta release of Red Hat Linux.
LIMBO includes, but is not limited to:
- the latest desktop technology
- gcc-3.1
- Mozilla 1.0+
- OpenOffice 1.0
- and much much more
Such beta software as LIMBO is not intended for use on mission critical
or production systems. Use on such systems could lead to loss of uptime,
data, money, employment, or sentience.
Remember, if it breaks, you get to keep all 1491 pieces.
Problems with LIMBO should be reported via bugzilla, at:
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/
As always, you can find LIMBO at redhat.com. Specifically:
ftp://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/beta/limbo/

Yo and welcome to the Limbo beta.
The AA fonts in Gnome2 are AWESOME! ;D And just think this is only the first beta. ;D
So far not too many issues.
Gnome panel has crashed a few times.
Menu items seem to magically disappear if you edit them. :P
OpenOffice doesn't work.
Java plugin doesn't work in Mozilla. This is strange because I had compiled the same source rpm on my RH 7.3 box and java worked fine.
Abiword seems to be missing for some reason right now.
One bug in Evolution, that I posted to bugzilla already.
Install finishes, but when you click quit to reboot the system it hangs.
A few things to note.
Installer is now GTK2 based. Nice
The default Window manager under Gnome is now Metacity. Nice.
Nutscape 4.x has gone away finally. ;D
LVM support in the installer now. Alot of people have been asking for that.
Alot of new GUI config tools for those who use them. :P
LPRng is being depreciated. Thats interesting.
Thats all I can think of at this second. :P I know there is more.

Added a few more Limbo screens showing some more of the new GUI config tools. The Samba config tool still needs some work.
