That really depends on the NIC in question, and whether or not you have the necessary network info.
If the card's supported and you have the necessary info(IP, hostmask, yada yada) you can prolly have it up an running in under a minute.
i have a rh 6.2 box which i have set up at school.
I want to connect it to the NT network that we have.
i have the correct smbmount stuff etc, but have realised i don't have eth0 setup.
is there any _real_ easy way to set it all up??
thanks
Alastair

ip by dhcp from server foo
2 servers - foo and bar
foo=server
bar=net gateway
domain is domain
netmask 255.255.255.0
NIC uses the NE2000 driver under doze.
i have tried to set it up, but when i do ifup eth0 it returns:
Delaying eth0 initilisation

You are going to have to specifiy the IRQ and IO setting for an ISA NIC
In /etc/conf.modules, if I rememebr right.RH 6.2 was a long time ago.
alias eth0 ne
options ne irq=x io=xxxx
