You might try installing and configuring ALSA (http://alsa-project.org). The CT5880 is on the list of supported cards.
Running SuSE 7.3 Pro
Creative CT5880 Sound Chip not listed in Yast2 list.
How do you install this on board sound chip.
Gigabyte GA7VTXH+ MoBo.
Thanx in advance!

Hi,
Thank you very much for responding. I am very new at this, grew up on Bill's stuff. II went to alsa.org I could not find the CT5880 Sound Chip on the list. Where did you locate it? I loaded the driver file, and the lib file and when I ran YaST2 the list was not updated. Any direction would be great.
I believe Suse uses the Alsa drivers "out of the box".
According to the Alsa website the CT5880 is identical to Soundblaster 128 PCI and both use the es1371 driver. Are either of these listed in Yast2?

Yes, both are found in Yast2, as well as, running alsaconf, however, I get the following error message both within Yast2 as well as during installation and re-installation:
An error occured during installing
Ensoniq
5880 Audio PCI
The kernel module snd-card-ens 1371 for sound support could not be loaded.
The following message was also received when I selected the Sound Blaster PCI128:
An error occured during installing
Sound Blaster PCI128 (model ES 1371)
(Ensonique/Creative Audio PCI ES 1371+)
The kernel module snd-card-ens 1371 for sound support could not be loaded.
Thanx for you patience!
Post the output of:
cat /proc/interrupts
cat /etc/modules.conf
Look in /var/log/messages for error messages relating to your sound card. The error messages it is displaying right now don't tell us why the module could not be loaded.

Thanks for all your help. I disabled the onboard chip and installed my Soundblaster Live and all is well!
