When you say "/dev/hdc3" , that means that you have a third drive where linux root directory is installed. This is just assumption, as you mentioned you have windows installed and you added one hard drive for linux. If you only have two hard drives (first one /dev/hda for windows, second one /dev/hdb for linux), your entries are wrong. Again, assuming you have two ide drives.
