    Networks for Beginners

    Hi Guys!
I was just wondering whether u needed Samba to link a Redhat server to a windows operating system. And if so how do i get hold of it?

    Re:Networks for Beginners

Yes, and Red Hat already has it.
    To enable it type

    service smb start

    or

    type
    setup

This will take you to a menu where u choose system services or someething colse to that, in that list there is smb, make sure you put an asterix in the square next to it by pressing the space bar. This will make it automatically start up everytime you boot.

note all the configuration is done in /etc/samba/smb.conf

    read the documentation in BROWSING.txt
    find this with
    locate BROWSING.txt

    good luck

Well it depends on what you mean by "link". What exactly are you trying to do?

    Red Hat comes with Samba.
