First, you'll need to make sure that the pcmcia-cs package is installed (rpm -qa |grep pcmcia), and then verify that the card is suported. There should be a list of supported cards included with the docs.
Also, a really simple way to verify card support is to create a pcmcia boot floppy from the image on the cd (/images/pcmcia.img) and see if you can get the network fired up from there - if you can, you should be in the clear.
If it's a newer card, the older package included with RH 7.2 might not have support for it yet. If not, check out the latest pcmcia packages from sourceforge.net and see if the card is on the supported list...if it's not, he might be SOL, but chances are that it's supported in one of the releases.
Since you didn't mention what card it is, there's no way for me to tell. If it's some sort of win-card (ala winmodem), he might just be SOL, but a decent pcmcia network card can be picked up for under $30 USD.
