parallel port modem?

I have a 56k Motorola Voicesurfr external modem that connects through my parallel port. I am having no luck in installing/configuring it. I’m using Redhat 7 with mostly the KDE GUI. Any suggestions on how to install and run this modem?

More then likely your modem desn't connect to your parallel port. It more then likely has a 25 pin serial port connector. If your computer only has 9 pin serial ports, which is more then likely the case, you need to get a 25 to 9 pin adapter. There were a few modems made that used the parallel port, but the parallel port connector was used along with a 9 pin serial port connection.

I could be wrong, but I have never heard of a parallel port only modem.

WHOA! I have never seen a modem that was parallel only. :P How old is that modem? Did you ever try to use it with LInux?

it was new, a brand new creative labs one. And yeah it worked great with linux, sucked ass with windows :-\
