No Sound in SuSE 8.0 please help! frustrated...

Hi

I have a Soundblaster Live! Value card. YaST tells me that the sound card is installed and an AC97 Audio Controller are both up and running. I can test the SB Live! in YaST and I hear the music. However, I don't hear a thing anywhere else. I'll play an mp3 on xmms or freeamp and it looks like its playing but no sound. I logged on as root as still no sound.

Does anyone have any ideas? Its driving me crazy.

Actaully, I fixed my problem by deleting the AC97 Sound Controller in YaST.

Now, no volume controls work except for the controls on the speaker. I also lost the speaker icon in the taskbar.

Any thoughts how I can have sound and controls?
