    I'll continue playing with it.
    I just use the vnc viewer that comes with Red Hat. vncviewer is in the vnc package I though your problem was on the client side not the server side?

    I'm writing this from a vnc'd connection ;D
    Simple really, had to get the server running properly, which took longer than i'd thought.

    I set it up non root and then started it, found the correct syntax for the client side and hey presto.

    I love this side of Linux, all the networking tools and the fun you can have playing around with it.

    So.. at last in comfort, on the couch, replying to this thread.

    I'm going to have to get a hub and get under the floor and wire up some cat5.
