Portsentry admin

I have installed Portsentry and i have started using it.
I note that in order to start the program you use
portsentry -tcp or something similar from a command line.

Is there anyway that i can set this up so that as soon as i am online it will start up and i can therfore be sure that i am rejecting scans etc.

I use a dialup so its up and down etc

I suppose i could write a small script to perform this task..

any other suggestions?

You could just add the command to the init script that starts up and configures your network settings when you start up your modem. It would be somewhere in /etc/init.d I'd think.

I'm assuming you're running a Sys V init, which means I don't know off hand the file to run it in.

You can use /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifup-local and /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifdown-local.

/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifup-local is run after the network device is activated and /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifdown-local is run after the device deactivates.

I will see if I can post something later. I don't have time right now. :'(
