Installing kde 3.0 from rpm

I am having some problems, don't ask me why but i removed rpm from my system in a moment of haste.
I have downloaded the tar file for rpm 4.0.4 and when i run ./configure i'm getting


Everything goes ok till here...

configuring in db3
running /bin/sh ./configure --cache-file=.././config.cache --srcdir=.
configure: error: cannot find sources in .
make: *** No rule to make target `listobjs'. Stop.
configure: error: ./configure failed for db3

I have tried installing rpm in both /root and /home

This is all because i was trying to get the librpm files for kde 3.

Basically i need to get rpm back before i can proceed with anything else.

Hope someone can help.. i am a bit stranded at the moment

I have re-installed from scratch as i made such an arse of my kde 3.0 install. This was reasonably easy as i have the cd/rw.

Another lesson learnt the hard way.

I tried to install rpm 4.0.4 and it wasn't having it, this was with the Berkely db and the zlib files. I also tried the 3.0.4 version and this configured ok but bailed out of the install and the make stage. I looked in the usual sources but toiled to get any information.

I knew i could re-install anyway so just went for that.

Anyway... Let's all laugh at Bogler ;D
