webmin

I have installed webmin (just to have a look at it). Is webmin a tool that would benefit a single system user I.E. not networked.

The docs suggest i use 'http://localhost:10000' I tied this but when i go to access a website i get asked for a password and username. I entered my root password but it will not accept it, so i tried my user password and it will not accept that either.

I went to http://webmin.com and had a at the very extensive documentation. but still dont know how to use this tool.

My browser usuall points to localhost 5865 for junkbuster.

hmmm
it should be https://localhost:10000
so it connects to a secure server

Hmm...I installed it here myself and was allowe to access it via root/rootpass at http://127.0.0.1:10000. After that I was allowed to add users to it.
Not sure what's you with yours...perhaps some sort of PAM authentication problem?

Yeah, i did root/rootpass and it accepted it, then all i get is a file not found error

did u use aptget or a tarball??

O.K. got it working,
I created a new user (non root). now all i have to do is figure out how to use it :

I tried to add my junkbuster proxy 5865 so i would be able to browse with it But i keep getting "file not found errors" Is it possible to browse with webmin, or do i have to keep swapping the proxies I.E. from 10000 while using webmin to 5865 while normaly browsing.

Another thing is it only has 5 modules, i gather i can add some more ( if i knew what i was doing). But on the whole it looks quite good.

I had a look at the webmin site and had a look at their documentation ( its VERY extensive), but i was wondering if there was something a bit simpler to explain what webmin does.

it is https://ipnumber:10000 to log in in webmin

Dude, that was five years ago ....

Anyway, you can choose to access it via normal http a swell. It's the config file that you have to modify in webmin.conf file. There, you can choose to modify login ID and port number.
