Hey guys, I saw on ZDNet UK about Suse charging some kind of "license fee" for 8.0. There were not any details on what this might be. Has anyone seen more information on this?
Jim H
JimH, If Suse were to add license fees, there is no way I would even try it.
I will have o check that out.![]()
I was just curious when I saw it whether it was going to be a per seat license fee like Caldera has gone too. I definitely will not be trying it if this is the case.
Jim H
If Linux Distos start going to license fees, whether they be per seat or per server based, the distro companies better be prepared to take a few steps back.
If IT managers have to deal with the licensing issues and associated hassles, they will just stick with the current installed base that already has these problems. Why learn how to deal with new licensing issues?
This would definately be a step back for Linux in the business sector.
The techies on the other hand, will just download a free distro.
Linux License Fees = Bankrupt
