    mysql ver 49a

    RH7.2
    Version 3.23.47 works fine, no problems at all.
    Installed 49a.
    When I start mysql I get the following erros when computer boos up;
    @HOSTNAME@: command not found
    my_print_defaults : coomand not found

    Any ideas what can it be?

    Is this a rpm of mysql?

    binary distrodownloaded from mysql.com

    Ah, well, that could be your issue. Binary distributions can differ from RPM installs, thus things that are expecting an rpm install will not find the binary install, and have problems....

    Usually the preference is exactly the opposite....use binary version, cause RPMed versions behave wierd sometimes
