    OpenOffice Installation

    Hi

I recently installed OPenOffice as root, is there anyway i can make it available to users on my system?
    It is installed in /root/Openoffice

I tried moving the directory but i get red "flashing" when i do an ls -al, why is this?

Uninstall it and re-install it using the /net option. Install it in a directory all users can read. Then run setup as each user. Staroffice supported the /net option. I believe OpenOffice supports the same option.

How did you install? You installed using the source, instead of the binary? You should just be able to just delete the OpenOffice folder in your root directory. When I tried one of the OpenOffice builds last year I just used the binary.

    I installed like this

    gunzipped the file
    untarred the file
    cd to directory
    ./setup
    answered the installation questions

    that was it

Run setup again, it should have an uninstall option. Been so long since I tried one of the OpenOffice versions I forgot they released the binaries in tar.gz format. :P :
