    Sound Server fatal error

When ever I start the GUI: gnome or kde Sound Server has a fatal error. I cannot hear to any sound there after,

I ran sndconfig. Everytime I run this it creates some new file. And thats it, no change Sound Server again has a fatal error and closses.

Any suggestion to what could be the problem.

Well we need just a tad more info....such as...which soundcard? ;D

The version of Redhat ur using....

What errors you might be getting in /var/log/messages

and if the sound modules are even loaded?

If you give a man a fire he'll be warm, if you light the man on fire he'll be warm for life.
