How to install via ftp?

Hi all,

I've been wanting to try Debian. I thought that I would go a head and download sid and noticed that there aren't any ISO's available. I've never installed Debian and would like to know how to install via ftp?

I have't installed Debian since the kernel version was 1.x, but I imagine apt makes an ftp install pretty easy.

I know it might be a bit on the slow side, but you're most likely better off using the http/ftp installation method. The ISOs are, obviously, static, so you'd have to spend all the time grabbing ISOs and then getting all the necesary updates after that. You can skip a step by just using the native debian network style installation, as it will install the latest packages by default. And with Sid being the "latest" or "unstable" release, I don't even know if ISOs are available to begin with.
Debian has never been the 'bleeding edge' that Redhat or Mandrake has been, not using the "latest and greatest" kernel by default, etc. However, because of that attitude, it's toted as the most reliable, configurable, stable, and long-running linux there is. I've used the 'testing' release, Woody, on my laptop a couple of times, but found it was more work than I have time for right now, so I've stuck with Mandrake on the laptop for the time being.
So think about giving the network installation a try, it might do you well.

Oops, I missed the "sid" part of your post. During the ftp install couldn't you just point the installer at the unstable directory instead of the lastest stable release. I thought debian was capable of that.
