Hmmm, I am not familiar with any docs for installing multiple Linux distro's on a single drive.

I don't know about docs...but it is a cinch....it is all I've ever done.....[me=Aragorn]is to more to get multiple drives. All you have to do is create seperate partitions, no need about manually configuring lilo, they read the seperete partitions like seperate drives, it configures itself just fine! ;D[/me]
