Thanks Spot, i tried it but no luck. I bought the OSS sound drivers from 4Front and the AC97 driver had to be bought (from OSS) in addition to the OSS standard product. This is maybe why it doesn't work?

I couldn't find .xinerc on my system (i was attempting to establish how things were actually set up), will have to have another look.

How does arts work? I may have to try and turn it off and conduct other experiments to see if i can get sound.
