    New to this forum, but I like slack pretty much for the reasons already stated. Fast, stable, clean. And if you are going to build a LFS, its has all the tools you need. I quad boot this laptop win2k,slack,RH7.2, and LFS. LFS is the fastest of the bunch. You wanna see clean, build a LFS. You are right when you say it is a time hog to build but its interesting.

    I completely agree about LFS...only thing is, getting KDE to install from source is like pulling teeth from a tiger....
