i don't see anything wrong with that article...
Linux *is* available on many archs, and it's not too difficult to port (well... in comparison to other OS's... porting an OS is never an *easy* task), but making it even easier to port (as well as making _apps_ easier to port... the focus of that article IIUC) is _never_ a bad thing.
