Does Mandrake 8 support sound for i810 (PIII)?
I dont have any external sound card .

It shows loading i810 sound module during boot but I hear no sound.

Hi Vikram, welcome to GLO.
Mandrake has good sound support, but I'm not too familiar with that particular sound card. Let's go ahead and move this over to the hardware forum, yes? It should get more attention there.

I just installed my first Linux distro. The Mandrake 8 CD's you sent me were too easy ;D. My old video card was the only snag I had on the install but even that was easy with a little common sense. I had to run to work so I haven't played with it much but it looks very clean. Gnome seems to be easy to get around in for a Newbie. ;D Thanks for the advice.

I've installed it over my NT server. I don't have much experience setting up servers but I'm going to give it my best shot. I want to build a small home network..I have a couple of old PC's and an old NT server that are just waiting to be Linuxized in my labor-a-tory. I'll let you know how it goes.

Sound now works properly on my system.......just a problem of a few settings. Anyway, the .wav file, which were working great uptill yesterday just stopped working :.........need to check why?
