Oh well, pretty soon with technology being the way it is, it will be possible to steal about everything human from another human!
The real question is, will this software have a Linux port? ;D

Hi,
Interesting article about a new technology from AT&T that quote, "convincingly mimics a particular voice by reconstructing its individual nuances and intonations from pre-recordings". Just think now criminals will not only be able to steal your identity, but also your voice. It says the technology isn't that far along yet.

If you give a man a fire he'll be warm, if you light the man on fire he'll be warm for life.
We can always hope. ;D Does have alot of potential, especially for blind computer users, better text-to-speech applications would help them alot. The real question is, will this software have a Linux port? ;D

Have you played with any of the voice recognition software out there, besides spending 3 hours to train the darn things they still are worthless. Dragon is the nicest one I have ever used and I still had to speak to it like it was 20 words behind my first word! ::P

I played with the Windoze version of IBM's Viavoice on a friends computer and it worked very well. I don't remember what version it was, but the newer versions are probably even better. They also have a Linux version. ;D. You have too make sure you have a real high quality microphone too get good results.
